A FEW THINGS ABOUT THE ARTIST

1. What do you do when you’re not making art? (Day job etc...).

I own and operate an art studio, gallery and non-profit art school that offers free creative workshops to area students. We have resident artists working in our studio spaces, Chicago area artists exhibit in our gallery and on Saturday mornings we have free art workshops!

2. Why do you make art?

Until recently, making art has always seemed like a necessary desire to paint and improve my skills. Now, I paint to explore, make mistakes and experiment with processes and techniques unfamiliar in my older works.

3. What inspires you?

These days, my inspiration comes from natural landscapes, organic materials and how things are shaped by the elements.

4. What/who are your influences?

In my current paintings, I am exploring color, texture and accidental abstract painting influenced by Mexican artist David Siqueiros and German artist Gerhard Richter.

5. If you could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be?

I would like to meet Gerhard Richter since he is one my current influences, still alive and painting at a higher level than I have yet to see.
